Minesweeper
Minesweeper
Intro
Welcome to the classic game of logic and deduction, reimagined with a sleek, modern interface. Minesweeper is a captivating puzzle where your objective is to clear a rectangular board containing hidden "mines" or bombs without detonating any of them. With each click, you gain more information about the location of the mines. Clicking on a safe square will reveal a number, which indicates exactly how many mines are directly adjacent to it. It's a true test of your strategy, process of elimination, and careful calculation.
How to control
Interact with the grid using your mouse. A standard left-click on any hidden square will reveal its contents. If you reveal a mine, the game is over instantly. If the square is safe, it will either be blank (meaning no adjacent mines) or contain a number from 1 to 8. To mark a square you suspect contains a mine, use a right-click to place a flag on it. This prevents you from accidentally clicking it. Right-clicking a flagged square again will remove the flag if you change your mind.
Tips
- Your First Click is Always Safe: Don't worry about your first move; it's guaranteed not to be a mine. A good strategy is to click near the corners or edges of the board, as this tends to open up a larger area and give you more information to start with.
- Learn the Patterns: The core of high-level Minesweeper play is recognizing recurring number patterns. For example, if you see a "1-2-1" pattern along a wall, you can be certain that the squares next to the '2' are mines. Recognizing these patterns is the key to mastering the game and improving your speed.
- Use the Chord-Click: This is a powerful and time-saving technique. If a revealed number square already has the correct number of flags next to it (e.g., a '2' square has two flags adjacent), you can left-click that number again to automatically reveal all of its other hidden neighbors. This is much faster than clicking each one individually.
- Process of Elimination: When you're stuck, use pure logic. If a '1' square is only touching one remaining hidden square, that hidden square absolutely must be a mine. Flag it immediately and use that new information to help solve the surrounding area.
